UPSHUR COUNTY, WV – A tragic family confrontation led to a fatal shooting when a 15-year-old boy was forced to defend himself against his father in their home. According to State Police reports, Maxwell Laham fired a shotgun at his wife during a domestic dispute. She was unharmed and then fled with her juvenile daughter, leaving her 15-year-old son behind. The teenager, fearing for his life, retrieved a 20-gauge shotgun and positioned himself upstairs.

Maxwell Laham, armed and threatening, confronted his son and pointed the shotgun at the him. The teen shot his father once in the chest in self-defense, resulting in Mr. Laham’s death. Remarkably, no other injuries occurred during the incident.

The case is currently under review by the Upshur County Prosecuting Attorney, with the investigation active and ongoing. As of the latest updates, no arrests have been made in connection to this event.
