“The gun is the great equalizer.” We’ve all heard this phrase before. And here’s an instance where that might have been proven to be true.
This morning sometime before 7:30 AM, a 16-year-old male suspect forced his way into a home in Akron, Ohio. The homeowner, a 74-year-old man, armed himself and confronted the burglar. There are no details of what happened next other than the homeowner fired at the burglar, hitting him multiple times.
The homeowner was not injured and called 911 to report the incident at 7:26 AM. The police arrived to find the wounded suspect. They provided his first aid, transported him to a hospital, where he is now in stable condition.
Thankfully, the homeowner was prepared to defend himself. If he hadn’t had a gun, it is very possible that the teen could have overpowered the homeowner and could have had a completely opposite outcome.
