Retraining orders and “no contact orders” have their place, but they don’t guarantee the person it is against won’t just disregard it and go after the other person anyway. The only real way to protect yourself is to be armed. And that’s precisely what happened in this incident.
Latoya Smith had an active “no contact order” against Lakendrick Smith from a previous domestic violence incident. But that didn’t stop him from going to her home and attacking her in front of her infant child.
Luckily, she was either armed or had a gun nearby as she was able to shoot her attacker, ending the attack. After the police arrived on the scene, the wounded man was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
