I would like to assume that if you are reading this, you aren’t the type of person who celebrates by shooting their gun in the sky. At least, I hope not. A responsible gun owner should know this is a big no-no. But we all see reports of falling bullets from guns shot in the air every new year.
I saw this story from my local news station and thought I’d cover it here as an example of exactly why you shouldn’t fire guns in the air.
A 10-year-old boy was sitting on a swing with his cousin watching New Year’s Eve fireworks in a New Orleans East. As the boy looked up, a falling bullet hit him above his mouth, broke two teeth, and exited his neck.
The boy was brought to a local hospital and has recovered from his injuries.
“If he was not looking at the sky he could die because it could have gone through his head,” Lopez said. “So he almost died from that.” via WWLTV.
