Yesterday, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed into law a Constitutional Carry law that will eliminate the requirement of obtaining an Alabama Pistol Permit or having a permit from a State Alabama honors. If you are legally allowed to own a firearm, you will be able to carry concealed in Alabama.

House Bill 272 will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2023. Alabama will join 21 other states with some sort of Constitutional Carry law on the books. Alabama residents will still be able to apply for an Alabama Pistol Permit, giving them reciprocity in other states that honor the Alabama permit.
Here in Alabama, we dare defend our rights. And we will ALWAYS defend the right of Alabamians to keep and bear arms. Alabama Free. Alabama Strong. https://t.co/UvWD6FI3Ii

MONTGOMERY – Governor Kay Ivey on Thursday signed House Bill 272, known as the constitutional carry bill, into law, defending law-abiding Alabamians’ Second Amendment rights.
“Unlike states who are doing everything in their power to make it harder for law-abiding citizens, Alabama is reaffirming our commitment to defending our Second Amendment rights,” said Governor Ivey. “I have always stood up for the rights of law-abiding gun owners, and I am proud to do that again today.”
HB272, sponsored by Rep. Shane Stringer (R – HD102), revises certain restrictions regarding the carrying or possession of a pistol and eliminates the requirement to obtain a pistol permit in order to carry a concealed pistol.
