Man ‘Pulls a Bruce Lee Move’, Takes Gun and Shoots Armed Robber

An armed robber thought he had the upper hand when he attempted to rob a pair of men at a Philadelphia ATM, but one of the men turned the tables.

Sometime before 1 AM last Tuesday, two men were getting money from an ATM in a Philadelphia candy shop. An armed man attempted to rob the pair, but one of them disarmed the suspect and shot him with his own gun. According to reports, the man “pulled a Bruce Lee move.”

The wounded suspect fled the store and got into the passenger seat of a car waiting outside and fled. They didn’t get far because police found the vehicle with the deceased suspect about two blocks away. They also responded to reports of the shooting at the smoke shop, but no one involved was still there. They did find blood and shell casings.

Unfortunately, the man who disarmed and shot the suspect also shot his friend in the shoulder. Police would catch up with them both at the hospital, and they are cooperating with investigators. The police are still searching for the getaway driver.

Rule 4 in Real Life: The Danger of Hitting Bystanders

It was brave for the man to attempt a weapon disarm in the middle of an armed robbery. But he was successful except for the fact that he also shot his friend. But what would have been the outcome had he not? Would it have been just an armed robbery, and they lost some cash? Or would one or both of the victims have been shot anyway? The man must have seen a window to take his chance, and he took it. And now both he and his friend are around to live another day.
