On December 26, 2022, on the east side of Detroit, MI, a tow truck driver was meeting a person in order to purchase a junk car.
The tow truck driver, a CPL holder, was ambushed while attempting to transact the purchase. He pulled his gun and shot and killed the suspect.
The incident is being investigated, but the police say that it appears to be a case of self-defense.
In these times, it is more than a little dangerous to meet unknown individuals to buy, sell, or trade items. Meetings should always be conducted in public places during daylight hours. If it can be avoided, do not meet at your home. Let friends or family know when and where you are meeting the individual. Bring a friend (or two) for backup. Lastly, be armed and ready if the situation turns into an ambush or robbery.
