A Denver man got into a shootout with multiple suspects after tracking his stolen car down using a tracking app. One of the suspects that was fatally wounded was a 12-year-old boy.

The Denver Police Department stated that they received a report of an automobile theft on Sunday, and the vehicle’s owner, an adult male, was using the app to track the stolen car.

The press release stated that when the owner approached the vehicle, there was an exchange of gunfire with the occupants inside the stolen car. A 12-year-old juvenile, later identified as Elias Armstrong by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner, drove the stolen car a short distance before being found by officers with a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital, where he passed away.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the owner of the stolen vehicle has not been charged with any crime, and the investigation is ongoing. The Denver Police Department stated that they believed the other occupants of the stolen car fled the scene before officers arrived.
