Fired, Drunk Employee Runs Over Boss; Neighbor Shoots, Subdues Suspect in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV — In a dramatic and chaotic incident captured on video, a recently fired employee, allegedly intoxicated, went on a rampage in a West Las Vegas neighborhood, attempting to run over his former boss and others before being shot and subdued by a neighbor.

On Thursday evening around 6:30 p.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a driver attempting to run over a pedestrian near Charleston and Decatur. The pedestrian, who was supervising a home remodeling project on Dover Place, had reportedly fired the driver earlier that day due to his unfit condition for work, as detailed by LVMPD Homicide Lieutenant Jason Johansson.

The suspect, driving a black SUV, was seen on security footage from nearby homes driving erratically on sidewalks and streets, chasing the victim both forwards and in reverse. The video shows the SUV hitting the employer, who was then flung to a nearby wall, sustaining significant injuries. Another resident, Steven Bowman, narrowly escaped injury by jumping over a wall as the SUV sped towards him and two other neighbors.

Bowman described the terrifying moments, saying, “He didn’t care who he was coming after.” He suffered a leg injury from debris and was released from the hospital within eight hours.

As the chaos unfolded, Ana Tilley, a resident of the neighborhood, instructed her 27-year-old grandson to retrieve her shotgun. Despite shouting warnings, the suspect continued his rampage. The grandson fired three shots through the SUV’s windshield and driver’s side window, stopping the vehicle and injuring the driver. The shooter cooperated with police and was released by the next morning.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the suspect deceased in the vehicle. The suspect’s identity has not been disclosed, and the investigation is ongoing.
