SAVANNAH, GA – Savannah police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on the evening of May 18 in the 1100 block of West 49th Street, where a 16-year-old male juvenile was shot and killed during an alleged break-in attempt.

Around 7:35 p.m., officers responded to a call reporting an armed individual forcefully entering a residence. Upon arrival, they were informed that the resident had confronted the intruder, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

Following a protective sweep of nearby residences, officers located the 16-year-old suspect who had suffered injuries, including a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts performed at the scene, the juvenile succumbed to his injuries.
