An armed Good Samaritan came to a pregnant woman’s aid as she was beaten by her unborn child’s father.
This past Saturday, around 5:17 PM, a brutal attack occurred in a grocery store parking lot in Largo, FL. A woman who was 14 weeks pregnant was attacked by the unborn child’s father. This same man was arrested on Oct. 11 for domestic battery against her and was put under a no-contact order. They had been dating for the past year and had lived together for a month.
It is unclear if the two were together when the fight occurred or if he confronted her while in the parking lot. The man got angry and started punching the woman in the face causing her to fall to the ground. There he continued to stop on her head and upper body.
A man witnessing the attack said it was so brutal in nature that he feared she would die. The witness was legally carrying a gun and decided to take action. He drew his concealed carry gun, which caused the suspect to stop the attack.
The suspect was arrested, and the police said the attack left the woman “covered in large amounts of blood” and a possible broken nose.
We often talk about having to decide whether or not you are willing to use your gun in defense of someone you don’t know. We go over the risks associated with doing so in our article, “Defending Strangers: Legal and Practical Considerations.” But witnessing a woman getting her head stomped in a grocery store parking lot, I think anyone with the ability to stop the attack should step in. Thankfully, there was a concealed carrier in the right place at the right time, and it could have very well saved her and her unborn baby’s life.
