In South Austin, Chicago, a homeowner shot and seriously wounded an intruder after his home was broken into.
The break-in occurred before 6:30 P.M. The suspect was shot and struck in the hand, flank, and elbow. Police have stated the homeowner has a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card.

This is another reminder to stay as ready as you can at any time of the day or night when home.
Also helpful is keeping a keen eye on your neighborhood. You should be able to recognize who actually lives alongside you. This applies not just to the people but vehicles as well. The tedious things play into the benefits of situational awareness.
Whether you use your concealed carry weapon as a home defense weapon or have a different setup when home, make sure you can access it quickly if a threat arises.
