SAN ANTONIO, TX – If you are going to steal cars, then you may want to learn how to drive a manual transmission. The suspect in this incident didn’t, and he wound up getting himself shot.
A carjacker got into a vehicle in an attempt to steal it around 2:45 AM last Thursday. He didn’t get far when he realized it was a manual transmission and didn’t know how to drive a stick shift. He ditched the car and got into a getaway car that his accomplice was driving.
But the owner of the car they attempted to steal drew a gun and started firing at them. The suspect in the passenger seat was grazed by a bullet that went through the headrest. Both suspects fled the scene. The police caught up with the wounded suspect at the hospital.
There are no reports of any charges being filed against the victim.
It sounds like the victim in this incident drew his gun and fired on fleeing suspects. There were no reports stating that the suspect was armed. Discharging a firearm in such a scenario can lead to serious legal repercussions, and the victim might find himself fortunate if the prosecutor opts not to pursue charges against him.
