An Ohio man that has owned a BP gas station for 23 years defended his life against a would-be armed robber last month. And while we don’t recommend drawing when a gun is already drawn on you, it worked out for the armed store owner this time. And it was caught on camera.
On the night of January 10, 2022, a man walked into a BP gas station and acted like he was going to purchase a bag of chips. As he puts the chips on the counter, it looks like the man motions that he will be right back. I assume he was sizing up the man behind the counter before deciding if he was going to attempt to rob the place or not. I guess he didn’t see the gun the owner was open carrying.
The suspect went outside and came back in with a rifle. He pointed it at the store owner underneath the glass window and demanded money from the register. The store owner calmly puts the cap back on his drink, draws his handgun, and fires a shot at the suspect through the glass. The suspect fled, but the police caught up with him. He was arrested and is accused of two other robberies in the area.
I’ll give props to this store owner for having a quick draw. It looks like it was about a one to two-second draw to first shot. But it also looks like the slide was locked back after that first shot. I assume this was a malfunction, but he didn’t seem to realize it as this was all going down. Good thing he didn’t have to fire another shot!
