Chicago Concealed Carry Holder Shoots Two in Mall Shooting

Chicago Concealed Carry Holder Shoots Two in Mall Shooting

On the evening of December 15, 2022, outside of Chicago Ridge Mall, two people were shot in what appears to be an extension of a continuing domestic dispute.

While leaving a restaurant at approximately 8:20 PM, three men confronted a couple entering their vehicle to leave. One of the vehicle entrants, a concealed carry permit holder, fired numerous shots at the men, resulting in two men being hit. Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

One of the assailants was arrested and charged with Battery as well as an “unrelated arrest warrant.”

After a comprehensive probe, it was decided that the defender would not face charges.

Of course, we always hope that the defender in cases like this one comes away safe and that only assailants are injured should they decide not to flee and continue with an assault upon discovering their victim to be armed. It is essential that we, as concealed carry permit holders, understand the laws of our state (or whatever reciprocal state in which we may be carrying) so that in the unfortunate event that we find ourselves in a situation in which we need to draw a weapon, we are not in violation of any laws and are found blameless and not charged with technicalities or even more serious charges.
