Chicago Homeowner Shoots Knife-Wielding Man In His Garage

Chicago Homeowner Shoots Knife-Wielding Man In His Garage

Chicago had its most violent Memorial Day weekend in five years, with 52 people shot. One potential victim fought back.

According to Chicago police, a homeowner shot and killed another man who confronted him with a knife in his Logan Square garage.

A 36-year-old man was inside his garage when a 53-year-old man with a knife entered Wednesday afternoon. The homeowner pulled out a gun and shot the intruder in the head. The intruder died at the scene, and hopefully, other criminals will learn that they may lose their life when committing a crime.

The houses in that neighborhood all have detached garages that back up to an alley. This shooting underscores the importance of carrying even when stepping outside because you never know when and where an attack might happen. Most people feel their home is their safe space and let their guard down, but in the past year, I have read more and more stories where a homeowner was attacked right outside of where they lived.

Criminals are looking for a “soft target,” so don’t let your guard down and give them an opportunity to attack.
