Chicago Man Thwarts Carjackers with Concealed Firearm, No Injuries Reported

CHICAGO, IL — An early morning carjacking attempt was foiled on Chicago’s Northwest Side when a concealed carry license holder defended himself against a group of armed assailants. Chicago Police reported that around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, a 34-year-old man was approached by three individuals in a black sedan as he walked to his car on the 3700 block of North Spaulding Avenue.

The trio, armed and demanding the keys to his vehicle, were met with resistance as the man drew his legally carried handgun and fired shots at the would-be carjackers. The assailants quickly retreated to their sedan and fled the scene.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported from the incident. The quick thinking and preparedness of the license holder prevented what could have escalated into a more dangerous situation. As of now, no arrests have been made, and Area 5 detectives are actively investigating the attempted carjacking.

This incident serves as a reminder of the value of self-defense training and the importance of being prepared for unforeseen dangers, especially in areas prone to such criminal activities.
