Concealed Carrier Stops Mass Shooting After Being Shot in the Head Himself

This is the story of a heroic man who was shot in the head but still managed to get up and stop a mass shooter that would have likely killed the rest of his family.

On July 3th, 2022, Raul Mendez and his family celebrated the Fourth of July at a party with about 30 other people. A neighbor of the person who threw the party joined in even though he didn’t know anyone at the party. Suddenly, and for no reason, the neighbor opened fire on the partygoers.

Before Mendez realized what was happening, his friend was shot dead, and then he was shot through the head, and the round exited out of his left eye. He hit the ground and was unconscious. People at the party fled, and his family barricaded themselves in a bedroom of the house they were at.

The suspect continued shooting, and two women attempted to stop him. The women knew Mendez had a concealed carry gun and yelled at him to get up.

“By the glory of God or the adrenaline and just everything, just the will to live and the will to protect my family, I was able to hear those pleas, those yells for help. I heard my name. And I was able to get up,” he said. – via FOX News

Mendez drew his concealed carry gun and put four rounds into the suspect’s chest, which killed the suspect.

Mendez spent a week in the hospital, lost his left eye, fractured his jaw, suffered a torn eardrum, and lost his sense of smell. But as he said to the NRA, “I’d rather look like this than be lying dead next to his family.”

This man is a hero. He saved countless lives that night. Who knows how many more victims there would have been had he not shot the suspect. Two people died, and four more were injured during the unprovoked attack. There is a GoFundMe set up for Raul Mendez and his family if you would like to contribute.
