Fight Escalates And Permit Holder Shoots Man She Was Fighting With

CHICAGO, IL – A permit holder in Chicago drew her pistol and shot a man she was fighting with recently in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of the Second City. The man was deceased, and police are investigating.

According to Fox32 Chicago, a woman who has a license to carry a pistol has been taken into custody after a shooting incident on Oct .18.

The woman was reportedly fighting with the man on the evening of Oct. 18 after 10 p.m. and drew a handgun, which she held a permit to carry, shooting the man four times in the torso. Emergency services arrived on the scene and transported the man – unidentified besides being 46 years of age – to Cedars Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from the injuries.

The Chicago Police Department took her into custody and is investigating the incident.

Details are scant, as little to no information was made available about what led up to the shooting, nor any further information about the context in which it happened.

Act Your Age; It Might Save Your Life

It’s hard to draw any serious conclusions from an incident with such little information, but what little is known indicates that the two people involved are certainly middle-aged.

At a certain point, there are certain things you aren’t supposed to do anymore. It’s eventually time to stop getting blackout drunk every week. At a certain point, it’s time to stop putting bumper stickers or decals on your car.

And getting in knockdown, drag-out fights with people – say, your spouse/partner or ex-spouse or partner, which this could very well have been – is certainly one of them. It’s one thing when you’re young and passions and hormones are raging, but if major arguments are happening, the answer is to either couple’s therapy or break up.

When it comes to your fellow persons of any gender, it’s time to either learn how to have disagreements more peacefully or learn when to just leave.

There are plenty of citizen-involved shootings that begin with arguments that get out of hand. While being armed and prepared to face threats is a good thing, it’s arguably better to be able to avoid conflicts that turn into threats in the first place.

It’s amazing what not acting like a jerk can do for you. You have a better quality of life, and no shots are fired.

So unless or until new facts emerge that flesh out the incident more fully…a big takeaway is to act your age. It might save your life.
