FORT WORTH, TX — An incident unfolded on Wednesday evening in Fort Worth, Texas, where a juvenile male was fatally shot following a robbery attempt that turned deadly. The Fort Worth Police Department reported that officers were called to the scene of a shooting in the 9200 block of Saint Martin Rd. at approximately 8:43 p.m.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found a juvenile with gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Nearby, the intended victim of the robbery, who had been targeted by the juvenile, was also found and is cooperating with police in the investigation. According to initial findings, the juvenile had attempted to rob the man at gunpoint. A struggle over the weapon ensued, during which the gun discharged, striking the juvenile.
The injured party was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival due to the severity of his injuries. His identity remains undisclosed pending notification of next of kin by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office.
This incident highlights the extreme risks involved when individuals attempt to disarm the assailant during armed robberies, particularly when a struggle over a firearm occurs. While thankfully the robbery victim was unharmed, the encounter could have easily ended differently with the victim himself being shot.
