A break-in suspect is in the hospital after breaking into a Nashville, TN, apartment and then being shot at nine times by the homeowner.
A man woke up to the sound of glass breaking coming from his young son’s bedroom this past Tuesday morning. He grabbed a handgun and went to investigate. As he opened his bedroom door, he saw a man he did not know standing in his hallway. Fearing for his and his family’s life, he fired at the intruder nine times. According to NewsChannel5, the intruder was struck once in the jaw and neck area and possibly three times in the chest.
The wounded suspect was transported to the hospital, where he is currently unconscious, intubated, in surgery, and in critical condition.
Police found that several bullets traveled into an apartment next door, which was scary for other residents.
“I thank god because you hear about it all the time, a stray bullet hitting someone,” said one Neoghbor. “That’s my world, my children. I don’t know what I would’ve done if something like that would’ve happened.”
