Intruder Fatally Shot During Struggle Over Firearm in South Carolina Home

HORRY COUNTY, SC — A trespassing incident on Monday night near Monaca Drive in the Longs area of Horry County resulted in the death of an alleged intruder following a struggle over a firearm.

Horry County Police responded to the scene around 7:35 p.m., where they found Ryan Surujnauth, 34, unconscious and bleeding inside the residence. According to initial reports, Surujnauth had attempted to enter the home, leading to a confrontation between him and the homeowner. During the struggle, a firearm was discharged multiple times, striking Surujnauth. Authorities have not confirmed who initially held the firearm.

Surujnauth was transported to Grand Strand Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. Police have confirmed that all individuals involved have been identified and accounted for, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The Horry County Police Department’s investigation remains ongoing as they work to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
