Man Killed After Approaching Vehicle with Gun in Henderson Walmart Parking Lot

HENDERSON, NV –On June 12th, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a shooting incident occurred in the 500 block of Marks Street, resulting in the death of a 38-year-old male.

According to the Henderson Police and Fire Departments, multiple 9-1-1 calls reported the shooting between two males in the parking lot of a shopping center. Preliminary investigations revealed that the 38-year-old man approached a vehicle with a firearm in his hand in a confrontational manner. The man inside the vehicle responded by discharging his firearm, striking the 38-year-old.

After being shot, the 38-year-old fired multiple rounds from his firearm as the vehicle drove away. Fortunately, none of these shots hit the shooter or any innocent bystanders.

Officers and paramedics attempted lifesaving measures upon arrival, but the 38-year-old succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The man who initially discharged his firearm remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Detectives are considering the possibility of self-defense in this incident, and no arrests have been made.

The identity of the deceased, along with the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin notifications.

This incident marks the fifth homicide in Henderson for 2024.
