Man Tracking Girlfriend Shot While Breaking into Wrong Apartment After Firing A Shot

CARMICHAEL, CA – A man attempting to track his girlfriend down ended up being shot by the resident of an apartment that he attempted to break into.

A 33-year-old man was trying to track down his girlfriend using his phone, which led him to an apartment complex in Carmichael, CA. After locating a unit he thought his girlfriend was in but was not, he attempted to kick the front door in to gain access.

After he was unable to kick the door in, he tried to break a window and then fired into the apartment after seeing someone inside. But the person inside was legally armed and fired and hit the suspect at least once in the torso. When the police arrived, they found the wounded suspect with a handgun not registered to him and an “extended magazine,” which is illegal in California. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and then was booked in jail.

A Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said: “The best part about this was that the resident at the apartment, who was a legal firearm owner, actually fired back.”

I want to point out that the police said there was no connection between the person who lived in the apartment and the suspect or the suspect’s girlfriend. This goes to show you that you never know when trouble will wind up at your front door. Being armed and prepared likely saved the resident from injury or death, as it seems the suspect was determined to get into the apartment.
