ATLANTA, GA – In an early morning incident that underscores the city’s ongoing struggles with property crime, an off-duty Atlanta police officer took decisive action against an intruder attempting to break his apartment. The confrontation occurred at approximately 5 a.m. on Tuesday at the Dwell at the View apartment complex located at 1620 Hollywood Road NW.

According to WSBTV, the officer who was home at the time of the attempted break in, responded by grabbing his firearm and shooting at the perpetrator. While the would-be burglar was not struck by the gunfire, he wound up falling three stories to the ground, resulting in non-life threatening injuries.

The identities of both the officer involved and the suspect have been withheld pending further investigation.
