MEDFORD, OR — An apparent break-in at a Medford apartment complex turned fatal on Saturday, August 24, when a resident shot and killed an intruder who was advancing with a knife. The incident occurred at approximately 6:14 PM at an apartment complex on Berrydale Road.

According to the Medford Police Department, officers were initially dispatched after receiving a report of an unknown individual attempting to force entry into an apartment. Just minutes later, a second call reported gunshots at the same location.

When officers arrived, they found a deceased male with apparent gunshot wounds. In response, another resident of the apartment fired a gun, fatally wounding the intruder.
