A tow truck driver showed up at a Houston, TX, apartment complex early this morning. He was there to tow away a vehicle that didn’t belong on the property.
That’s when a man approached him and brandished a gun. I’m assuming this was the owner of the vehicle that was being towed. The tow truck driver retrieved a gun from his truck, and the two men exchanged gunfire. It was also reported that a family member came outside, picked up the man’s gun after he was hit, and started shooting the tow truck driver.
The tow truck driver ran a few blocks away and waited for police to arrive. The wounded man was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition. Several vehicles in the parking lot were hit during the shootout.
We don’t have many details, but it sounds like the man wasn’t happy about having his vehicle towed. We’re not sure if it was just being removed from the property or if it was being repossessed. Regardless, Texas law allows tow truck drivers to carry firearms.
