A judge recently granted an Oklahoma woman a protection order that ordered her ex-boyfriend to stay 100-feet away from her and her home as well as surrender any firearms. But that’s not what protected her when he kicked in her front door.
Police were called to a Tulsa, OK apartment Thursday morning around 2:15 AM after reports of shots fired. According to police, the ex-boyfriend of the woman who lived in the apartment kicked in the front door. He was armed and confronted the woman.
He then “came at” the current boyfriend who was living there at the time and was also armed and shot the ex-boyfriend. He died on the scene.
I’m not saying protection orders are useless, but they don’t do anything to stop someone determined to do someone harm. Who knows what the outcome would have been if the boyfriend had not been there or didn’t have a gun to protect himself and his girlfriend.
