CCW Permits Suspended for 22 Florida Individuals in Capitol Riot

22 Florida CCW permits have been suspended by Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried in connection with the Capitol riot earlier this year.

“The deeply disturbing events that occurred at our nation’s Capitol on January 6th were sedition, treason, and domestic terrorism – and those individuals involved in the insurrection must be held accountable for attempting to subvert our democratic process,” Fried said in a statement.

With these individuals being charged with felonies, their concealed carry licenses are definitely liable to being stripped away. Those licenses were issued by Fried’s office, in which the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services oversees the state’s concealed carry licensing program.

Really these individuals are more so fortunate their licenses were only suspended. When applying for our concealed carry licenses, we should know and are taught that any felonies or criminal offenses have the potential to take away these privileges.

Being charged with a crime at the Capitol is likely more than enough to get you on the wrong side of a CCW application. We as Americans have a right to peacefully protest, but this turned into chaos back in January, and many citizens got into trouble.

Otherwise, we cannot forget that actions have consequences. The fine print in the process of obtaining a CCW license must not be overlooked as your office of issuance has the ability to decide who is fit to carry a weapon legally.
