Tobacco Shop Employee Shoots at 3 Armed Teens During Robbery; Killing One

Three armed men In Greensboro, NC, went into Tobacco & Vape planning to rob the store’s employee at gunpoint.

On the 911 tape acquired by WFMY, you can hear the conversation between the store employee and dispatch.

The clerk was very calm when he called 911. “They were grabbing the money and some of the merchandise,” the caller said. “There was a gun in the back, so I went ahead and got the gun and came back out. They were still there, so I just fired at them. They ran out. I don’t think any of them got hurt.”

17-year-old Gabriel Malachi Kalu died from a gunshot wound, and authorities released no information about the other two involved

A person on Facebook commented that “apparently no one is considering what in that young man’s life drove him to this.” She’s not the first, nor will she be the last to justify a criminal’s actions by blaming it on their lack of opportunities.

It didn’t take much digging to find Kalu had a job, was ACCEPTED to eleven colleges, and received SIX merit-based SCHOLARSHIPS. Knowing that, is this someone who you think had a lack of opportunities?

This young man was receiving support to make a better life for himself and it was his choice to throw it away over some money and smokes!
