A Maryland man was outnumbered 4 to 1 by armed teenagers attempting to rob him in a parking garage. What they didn’t know was that he had his own gun and was ready to use it.
Yesterday afternoon, four armed teenage suspects approached a man in an apartment complex parking garage in Bowie, MD. We can assume that the suspects attempted to rob the man, but he was also armed. He drew his gun and fired, hitting one of the suspects who all fled the scene.
Police found one of the suspects nearby. The wounded suspect went to a hospital for treatment, where he was apprehended. The other two suspects were arrested after they crashed a car stolen from Virginia. All four suspects are being looked at for other similar crimes in the area.
The police mention that the victim legally owned the gun, which was registered to another state, and that he “fired in what we believe to be self-defense.”
This shows you that having a gun and being prepared to use it can be an equalizer. I would not want to be in his position where I am outnumbered 4 to 1. But at least he was able to draw his firearm and get a shot off to defend himself. And thankfully, none of the suspects shot back at the victim, and seeing one of their friends get shot was enough to cause them to flee.
