A 14-year-old is in the hospital recovering from gunshot wounds but will be placed into police custody as soon as he recovers.
An Indiana pawn shop employee was walking outside the store around 3:45 PM earlier this month. That’s when three suspects tried to rob the employee. At least one of the suspects was armed. But unfortunately for them, so was the pawn shop employee. He drew his firearm and fired at the suspect, one of which fired back at him.
The 14-year-old armed suspect was hit multiple times and was later transported to the hospital. His wounds were listed as non-life-threatening injuries. And as soon as he is released, he will be placed into police custody.
We talk a lot about not drawing from the drop or using a firearm to protect personal property. But the victim must have felt that his life was threatened and saw a window of opportunity to draw his gun to defend himself. By looking at the evidence markers in the news report, there were quite a few shots fired. I’m just glad the victim came out of it unharmed.
